Weekend Environments has been in the Audio and Music business since 1992.  We started the business out of a love for the hobby while living in Seminole Florida.  I had been an Audiophile for many years and had retired young in 1990.  My wife noticed that I was spending a lot of money flying to different parts of the country to see and evaluate equipment not available in our area.  She came to the conclusion that I would have more fun and probably make some money while toying with my hobby if I started an audio business.

It has been 14 years now and we continue to grow every year and continue to add some of the best and most prestigious lines in the industry.  We are dedicated to only carry lines that we consider either “State of the Art” or a great value.  We will never carry lines that directly compete against each other because we consider that an affront to the manufactures that support us.  Every line that we carry is sonically very different from each other.  We know that we cannot carry every line nor do we desire to be the retailer for every need that arises for the individual audiophile.  Case in point we do no analogue nor home theater!

The fact that audio is mysterious and magical in so many aspects is an inspiration! I am first and foremost an Audiophile and that has precedence over all business matters. Cables are a component that should not be overlooked and we believe that a good portion of ones expense in their system should reflect the need for quality cabling. And we are definitive in our belief "THAT IT ALL STARTS AT THE WALL" Since the beginning we have advocated the relevance of powercords and line conditioners - - years before their popularity.  Many audiophiles including reviewers and manufactures that once considered this outlook bizarre now refer to me when seeking advice on powercords!

Caelin Gabriel of Shunyata PowerSnake fame moved from Mendocino CA. to Port Orchard WA. when he decided to build audio products so that we could work together in laying the groundwork for his line. As a matter of fact I was the person who suggested that he should make powercords and was the exclusive dealer for his line for 6 months before he started building a dealer network.  Scott Hall from Electraglide was a customer of mine before he started building powercords.  As critical as the need for quality components one must never discount the relevance of tweaks and never forget the room.  We strive to improve the whole system by leaving nothing to chance and so we are personally always tweaking seeking the things that may seem frivolous but can turn a good system into an arena of seductiveness!

Many of you that have come to the showroom have commented on the medieval swords and sculptures that are on display everywhere along side the Audio equipment.

Many have asked why I did not promote the selling of the products?  Just about everything on display has been from my own personal collection.  So due to demand we have recently begun selling the dragons from the Tudor Mint, some of the products from the Noble Collection, from Stonegarden and soon we will have the Marto Swords and suits of Armor available for purchase.  I am looking for more unique pieces of art and sculptures from that time period that will enhance the aesthetics of the showroom while offering those of you that have an interest in such products a source to purchase many of these exquisite pieces.

I regret to state that I no longer have a source for the giant gargoyles that I have in the showroom the green 26 inch tall with 30 inch wingspan are sold out and the massive 300 pound 36 high by 40 inch wing span are also sold out.  The one’s that I have left on the showroom are not for sale.

I have two obsessive hobbies and those are audio and medieval/fantasy sculptures and art. Dragons and Gargoyles are predominating in the showroom.  If you want to work on resonance control on your CD player use a Dragon or Gargoyle sitting on top of the Transport mechanism, on a top load behind it, cool looks and works wonderful.

Audio has proven to be a very enjoyable business and we will now see if we can wed the two together - - art and audio - - not just on display but in our new business format.

Please if any of you stumble across any interesting pieces of art or artists please let me know.  I will be going to more gift shows this year to see what is available.

Lets face it many of the audio pieces themselves look like fine sculptures so joining the two in harmony makes a lot of sense!

Weekend Environments, A Sanctuary of Sound is in Port Orchard, WA. With a 2000 square foot showroom in one of the most beautiful pristine settings that one could imagine.  We have 3 large and very well equipped sound rooms and we do all our business by appointment only.  We believe as expensive and confusing as audio can be that all our attention should be given in each appointment.
